Suspect allegedly assaults elderly building manager in Mission
MISSION — Mounties in Mission say a suspect is in custody after allegedly assaulting an elderly residential manager at an apartment building in Mission where the person had previously lived.
Mission RCMP say they were called to an apartment building on 1st Avenue near Grand Street on Thursday afternoon, July 10 after receiving information that an assault had just happened. Police say an 81-year-old building manager was in the process of collecting rent from people in the building when a former resident allegedly assaulted the manager in the hallway, causing the manager to fall and suffer a laceration to his head.
Police say the suspect fled the scene, but witnesses were able to provide a specific description of the suspect, which enabled police to promptly locate the suspect nearby. The suspect was arrested without further incident, and was determined to have an outstanding arrest warrant in relation to another recent assault in Mission. The person was held in custody for court.
Police did not release the gender or age of the suspect.
