HOPE — A fully certified truck repair shop in Hope with licensed mechanics, welders, and inspectors will close its doors for good next week.

In a social media post Thursday morning, Silver Skagit Mechanical says it has made the decision to close its auto and commercial mechanical shops effective next week Friday.

“After much heartfelt reflection, we’ve made the decision to close our automotive and commercial mechanical shops, effective July 18, 2025,” the social media post stated. “With the ever-changing economy and a growing desire to create a better balance for our family, this is the best next step.”

The company offered a wide range of services including commercial truck and trailer repair, auto and fleet repair, preventative maintenance, air conditioning service, mobile service, welding and fabrication, parts sales, water truck services, UTV repair, modification and maintenance, HIAB service, scrap collection and bin service, and was a licensed inspection facility.

The company began in 2012 as a father and son duo in Hope, which did not have a full-service shop for commercial transportation at the time, the company’s website stated.

In 2019, Dusty Smith and his wife, Schaelyn, purchased the business and had been expanding and growing the company immensely each year. The company’s website stated it consisted of 11 key hard-working individuals and expanded to over 20 seasonally when its water trucks were in full swing.

The company had a sterling 4.7 rating out of 5 based on 102 Google reviews.

“We strive to offer our customers efficient and quality service. We understand the importance of build(ing) lasting relationships with our customers by delivering exceptional customer service and honest advice,” the company’s website stated.

Silver Skagit Mechanical extended gratitude to the very people that made their operations possible the past 13 years.

“To our loyal customers and friends—thank you. Your support, trust, and business over the past 13 years have meant the world to us,” Silver Skagit Mechanical wrote on Facebook. “Here’s to new beginnings—thanks for sticking with us.”
