Abbotsford police wrangle man back to jail for fleeing house arrest, driving impaired
ABBOTSFORD — Weekends with the Abbotsford Police Department often seem to be cut from a cast of colourful characters, and last night (May 23), one individual stood out from the rest.
Abbotsford police responded to 80 calls for service from about Friday at 8 p.m. to Saturday at 8 a.m. Traffic Enforcement officers were especially busy removing six impaired drivers from the roads when one driver was found to have violated his court-imposed house arrest from a previous infraction.
“He attempted to evade accountability by providing a false name and fleeing on foot,” wrote Abbotsford Police in a social media post. “Following a foot pursuit, he was apprehended and is now in custody awaiting a court appearance today.”
Police arrested four more individuals wanted on outstanding warrants, bringing the total to eight people remaining in jail and scheduled to appear in court today.
