UFV Science Café event to focus on impacts of wildfire smoke in the Fraser Valley
CHILLIWACK — The University of the Fraser Valley will host a Science Café event next week that examines the health impacts of wildfire smoke in the Fraser Valley and beyond.
The public is invited to this event on Tuesday, March 18 from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Chilliwack campus library. The panel discussion will examine the respiratory impacts from wildfire smoke and feature ways to protect yourself from smoke-filled skies.
Panel speakers include Dr. Luisa Giles, assistant professor in kinesiology; Dr. Anne-Marie Nicol from Simon Fraser University Health Sciences; and Prem Gundarah, BREATHE program coordinator.
Dr. Giles is expected to highlight how wildfires affect physical and mental health and outline simple strategies the public can use to protect themselves when skies are smoky.
