Langley RCMP now acknowledges recent shooting at home was related to extortion
LANGLEY – Police in Langley now say an incident of shots fired last Friday on 45A Avenue in Langley is indeed connected to extortion.
At around 12:41 a.m. Friday morning (June 12), RCMP responded to a report of shots fired in the 21500 block of 46A Avenue and secured the scene. Officers then found evidence of shots being fired at a home in the neighbourhood, resulting in property damage, but no one was hurt in the incident.
On the day of the incident, police initially said at the time there was no confirmation of links to extortion or the ongoing gang conflict in B.C.
“Through continued investigative efforts, we have determined that this was a targeted, extortion-related shooting,” said Sergeant Zynal Sharoom of the Langley RCMP. “Incidents like this are concerning, and we want to reassure the public that our investigators are actively working to identify those responsible and mitigate further risk to the community.”
