Targeted shooting in Mission sends one to hospital

MISSION — A 57-year-old Mission man sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries in a targeted shooting on a houseboat along the Fraser River on Saturday (Dec. 21) morning in Mission.

Mission RCMP responded to the waterfront area south of Wren Street shortly before 10 a.m. and found the victim inside the houseboat. Two suspects fled the scene before police arrived and have not been located.

The Mission RCMP Serious Crime Unit has taken over the investigation, with assistance from the Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Service and the Integrated Forensic Identification Services unit.

Authorities say no one else was hurt in the incident and there is no indication that the general public is at risk. No description of the suspects has been provided at this time.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen suspicious activity near Wren Street, south of Lougheed Highway, earlier in the day to come forward with information.
