MISSION – New patient transfer aids donated to Mission Memorial Hospital are expected to be invaluable in mobilizing patients who need assistance walking.

The three Sara Stedy devices—non-powered aids that allow patients to stand independently or with minimal assistance—arrived at MMH in November, following a donation from the Mission Community Foundation.

“Sara Stedys are valuable pieces of equipment that we use daily to support our patients with mobility and transfers,” said MMH Clinical Operations Manager Jill McIntosh.

“The Sara Stedy is convenient and quick for one team member to use, and it has a strong base that provides comfort and stability for the patient,” McIntosh added.

The Sara Stedy is produced by Arjo, a company specializing in healthcare and medical equipment, particularly patient handling and mobility solutions.

For over 37 years, the Mission Community Foundation has been a financial resource for individuals and organizations, providing scholarships, bursaries, and grants for post-secondary education, poverty reduction, health initiatives, social justice, and environmental causes.
