UPDATE: All lanes mentioned in this post, eastbound and westbound, were reopened to traffic just after 4 p.m. Friday, according to DriveBC.

CHILLIWACK – A semi-truck crash on the eastbound Highway 1, just east of Annis Road, closed the roadway in both directions early Friday morning, according to B.C.’s Ministry of Transportation.

The agency reported the incident just before 6 a.m. through its social media channels, alerting drivers to watch for emergency crews and expect delays due to two detours.

Westbound drivers can use Exit 135 (Bridal Falls) to access Highway 9, while the eastbound detour is Exit 129 (Annis Road) to Yale Road.

Multiple posts from drivers on social media Friday morning stated that the crash involved an overturned semi-truck; however, RCMP and BC Highway Patrol did not confirm the type or number of vehicles involved in response to a query from Fraser Valley Today.

A spokesperson from BC Emergency Health Services says paramedics were dispatched to “a motor vehicle incident” not long after a call around 5:49 a.m. but revealed no one was treated for serious injuries.

“Two ambulances with primary care paramedics responded to the scene,” the agency stated in an email.

“There were no patients requiring hospital transport.”
