Agassiz contractor wins bid to build multi-use pathway from Silver Creek to ‘essential amenities’ in Hope

HOPE – A project aimed at connecting a residential neighborhood to essential amenities in Hope using a multi-use pathway is a step closer to reality.

Municipal staff say the Richmond Hill Multi-Use Pathway Project will be built by Agassiz’s Timbro Contracting Ltd., which was awarded the undertaking Thursday and is expected to begin construction this fall.

The two-kilometre passageway along Flood Hope Road between Exit 170 and Silverview Road will include the repaving of a portion of Flood Hope, as well as corridor lighting improvements and a signalized pedestrian crossing to replace a damaged overpass.

In March, the city secured $500,000 in provincial funding for the pathway through the BC Active Transportation Infrastructure Program and a contribution from Trans Mountain.

The provincial grant program focuses on creating infrastructure that supports walking, cycling, and other active modes of transportation to incentivize growth in sustainable travel options.
