Mission RCMP investigate two suspicious fires within 1/2 hour, including a Mercedes with no license plate
MISSION — Mounties in Mission say they’re investigating two suspicious fires that happened within less than a half hour apart, one of which was a Mercedes sedan with no license plate.
According to a statement from police Wednesday morning (Sept. 25), Mounties were notified by Mission Fire Rescue Service about a vehicle on fire on Wiebe Street off Dewdney Trunk Road, located just northwest of Cedar Street. Responding RCMP members attended and located a Mercedes sedan that had been set on fire at the end of the street. Police determined that a second vehicle fled the area westbound on Dewdney Trunk Road after the initial fire was set.
Police say the other vehicle fire was reported just before 3 a.m. on the side of Lougheed Highway, just east of the Mission Visitors Centre. A grey or green Jeep was fully engulfed in flames, and like the first vehicle, did not have any license plates on it.
