CHILLIWACK — Bannister Auto Group has raised enough money from sales at its Chilliwack auto dealerships to give back to a valuable Chilliwack non-profit that provides safe shelter to women and children impacted by interpersonal violence.

According to a news release Monday (Sept. 23), the dedicated sales team at Bannister Auto Group in Chilliwack rallied around a meaningful cause by donating $100 from every vehicle sold during July and August in support of Wilma’s Transition House. This local organization provides essential services, including safe shelter, advocacy, and support for individuals affected by interpersonal violence, while also working to educate the community for lasting change.

As a result of this initiative, Bannister Auto Group proudly presented a generous cheque of $43,600 to Wilma’s Transition House.

“This contribution will help ensure continued support for those in need, making a significant impact in the Chilliwack community,” Bannister Auto Group said. “A huge thank you goes out to the hardworking staff for their dedication to this cause. Together, we are building a stronger, more compassionate community.”

Bannister Auto Group has given back to the Chilliwack community on multiple occasions in just the past two years alone. In May 2024, it announced a substantial contribution $57,300 to the Chilliwack Hospital Foundation to purchase a life-saving ventilator at Chilliwack General Hospital.

In December 2023, Bannister Auto Group Chilliwack announced that it had raised over $78,000 for the Chilliwack Salvation Army.

“Thank you to the sales team for your hard work, we’ve made a significant impact on local families in need,” Bannister wrote. “Looking ahead, we remain committed to making a positive difference in our community and have exciting plans for the new year. Thanks to everyone who supported us—your contributions have transformed lives and strengthened our community bond. Cheers to a future of continued compassion, collaboration, and positive change!”

The Chilliwack Salvation Army returned the favor with its own expression of gratitude.

“We are blown away by the generosity and hard work of the Bannister Auto Group team, who donated $100 from every car they sold from August to November to raise money for the Salvation Army Food Bank!! We are incredibly grateful for the support of all 4 Bannister dealerships, and we are exciting to continue working with you!” Chilliwack Salvation Army wrote on Facebook.

In March 2023, Bannister Auto Group Chilliwack presented a donation of $100,000 to Luke Zacharias, board president of Chilliwack Community Services, CCS executive director Kate Healey, and Shirley Triemstra of CCS, towards the Paramount Project capital campaign.
