Amateur-built amphibious aircraft crashes near Merritt Sunday, killing 2: RCMP

MERRITT — Mounties in Merritt have confirmed that two people died in an airplane crash Sunday (July 28) near the Merritt Airport.
According to a statement from Corporal James Grandy of the Southeast District RCMP in B.C., RCMP in Merritt responded to a report of a plane that crashed two kilometres north of the Merritt Airport, east of Highway 5A.
On arrival, emergency crews located the crash site, where they identified both the pilot and passenger deceased.
Police say the airplane was a two-seat homebuilt amphibious aircraft.
