IHIT investigates suspicious death in Hope

HOPE — The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been deployed to Hope following the suspicious death of a man on Friday evening (Jul.5). The Hope RCMP received a report of a deceased person in the 900-block of Old Hope Princeton Way.

Frontline police officers responded to the scene and discovered the body of a 46-year-old man from Chilliwack, whose death appeared to be a result of homicide. The man’s name has not been released.

IHIT took over the investigation while collaborating closely with the Upper Fraser Valley RCMP Serious Crimes Unit, the Integrated Forensic Identification Section and the BC Coroners Service.

“We are in the beginning stages of our investigation,” said Sgt. Timothy Pierotti of IHIT. “We’re asking anyone with information to please come forward.”
