Chilliwack RCMP urges water safety this long weekend
CHILLIWACK — In the midst of a sweltering heat wave, Chilliwack RCMP are urging the public to exercise water safety precautions this long weekend.
As summer temperatures soar into the mid- to low 30s this long weekend, and higher than normal water levels in local lakes and rivers present dangers, Chilliwack RCMP remind the public to keep water safety top of mind.
RCMP say that includes having all required safety gear, ensuring visibility at all times by others, not operating a vessel while impaired by alcohol or drugs, and being respectful of others using the same area.
Chilliwack RCMP will be patrolling Chilliwack-area waterways and conducting proactive enforcement over the B.C. Day long weekend and throughout the summer, so that recreational users and vessel operators can take full advantage of what the beautiful outdoors have to offer, safely.
