CHILLIWACK — A storm packing powerful winds arrived Saturday shortly after 5 p.m., knocking out power to over 600 customers in Ryder Lake and Promontory in Chilliwack.

According to the BC Hydro outage map, 647 customers lost power at 5:12 p.m. Saturday evening (Apr. 19) in an area described as being west of Elkview Road, south of McGuire Road, and north of Auchenway Road.

BC Hydro says the outage is attributed to a tree that fell across hydro wires. Crews have been assigned.

Unfortunately, as of 9:30 p.m. Saturday night, there’s no estimated of arrival for crews or an estimated time when power might be restored.
