ABBOTSFORD — Drunk and impaired drivers aren’t immune from the law, even when they appear to be passed out in the drive through lane of a fast food restaurant.

AbbyPD says its officers responded to the 32900 block of South Fraser Way in Abbotsford Saturday night, March 23 at about 6:30 p.m., after staff of a fast-food chain noticed something about a drive through customer and notified police promptly.

The drive-through attendant reported serving a customer who slurred their words and appeared to be falling asleep at the wheel. Officers responding located the suspect vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. Observing rather obvious signs of impairment, officers arrested the 44-year-old male driver for impaired operation of a motor vehicle, impounding the car in the process.

“We all play a part in making our roads safe. Thank you to the attendant for reporting this unsafe driver while also handling a busy drive-through,” AbbyPD wrote on social media.
