CHILLIWACK — The Chilliwack Chiefs took a big step towards locking down second place in the BCHL Coastal Division Saturday (Mar. 2) at the Chilliwack Coliseum. Parker Murray and Brady Milburn scored first period goals as the Chiefs defeated Alberni Valley 4 – 1.

The Chiefs swarmed the third place Bulldogs in the first period, outshooting them 15 – 6 and scoring the only two goals of the period.

Connor Dick also scored for the Chiefs before netminder Vladimir Nikitin added salt to the wound. With the Chiefs leading 3 – 1 late in the third period, and the Bulldogs on a powerplay, Nikitin fired the puck the length of the ice into an empty net to score a rare goal by a goaltender.

With the victory the Chiefs have a six point cushion on the third place Bulldogs, with just seven regular season games remaining.
