CHILLIWACK — Ryden Evers powerplay goal at 6:11 of overtime lifted the Surrey Eagles to a 5 – 4 victory over the Chiefs in Chillwack Saturday (Jan.14) night.

The win capped a come-from-behind win for the Coastal Division leaders. Aaron Schwartz’s second goal of the game with 2:39 left in regulation time forced the overtime period for Surrey.

After trailing the game 3 – 1 in the second period, the Chiefs rattled off three straight goals to carry a one goal advantage into the late stages of the game.

Ty Campbell, Caleb Elfering, Mateo Mrsic, and Dylan Kinch scored goals for the Chiefs, who have lost four in a row to start 2024. The last two losses have come in overtime.

Surrey outshot the Chiefs 41 – 27.

Chilliwack’s Matt Argentina was kicked out of the game midway through the second period following a fight with Surrey’s Carter Frankiw. Argentina was handed a five-minute major for an illegal check to the head, a fighting major and two game misconducts.

Chilliwack won’t see action for ten days because of the BCHL All-Star game in Penticton next weekend. They’ll be in Coquitlam January 24 for a rare noon hour mid-week game.
