**Update at 7:48 p.m.. Wednesday: Environment Canada is only forecasting 2-4 centimetres of snow to fall Thursday in Chilliwack. Wind chills will hit -18 Thursday afternoon and as low as -20 Thursday evening.**

CHILLIWACK — It’s a big change from the gusty winds that walloped Chilliwack Tuesday and left over 96,000 BC Hydro customers without power across Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland.

The first Arctic blast of winter is set to arrive in Chilliwack Thursday, bringing significantly colder temperatures and the likelihood of undetermined amounts of snow.

Environment Canada says snow flurries are likely starting around midnight tonight as lows hover around the freezing mark. Rain is expected Wednesday during the day before giving way to snow flurries. There’s a 60 per cent chance of rain showers this evening in Chilliwack followed by a 60 per cent chance of snow flurries Wednesday night, with a low of zero.
