Reported structure fire breaks out on Woodbine Street in Chilliwack Tuesday morning

CHILLIWACK – Multiple Chilliwack fire engines have been called to a reported structure fire on Woodbine Street in Chilliwack Tuesday morning.

Two on-scene witnesses told Fraser Valley Today there are four fire trucks, two ambulances, an ambulance supervisor, and at least two RCMP vehicles on scene.

Scanner traffic indicated one patient suffered smoke inhalation. That patient is being treated by ambulance personnel as of 11:54 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Another witness at the scene says two people have been walked over to an ambulance by paramedics.

There is no additional smoke emanating from the home as of 11:55 a.m.

The fire is in the 9300 block of Woodbine Street.

FortisBC personnel have arrived on scene.

A nearby Chilliwack resident who lives several blocks away from the Woodbine Street home said she smelled something electrical in the air around the time the fire began.

Firefighters radioed dispatch at 11:55 a.m. to say a primary and secondary search have been completed, and overhaul is underway and/or complete.

BC Hydro is now on scene as well.

Overhaul is complete as of 12:15 p.m.

Scanner traffic indicated two patients were being transported to hospital.

BC Hydro has disconnected power as of 12:18 p.m., according to scanner traffic.
