Winter storm leaves 1,000+ customers in Fraser Canyon north of Hope without power
CHILLIWACK — Powerful winds attached to the latest winter storm walloped parts of the Lower Mainland, leaving over 1,000 customers in the Fraser Canyon north of Hope without power Tuesday morning (Jan. 9), along with outages in Ryder Lake in Chilliwack and Manning Park.
In Ryder Lake (Chilliwack), 74 customers east of Graham Drive, north of Bruce Road and west of Elkview Road lost power at 3:13 a.m. Crews have been assigned and are on their way. The cause is under investigation.
North of Hope in the Fraser Canyon, three separate power outages occurred overnight. Approximately 534 customers lost power in Yale, Dogwood Valley and Choate/Squeah due a tree on hydro lines at 12:58 a.m. Crews are on their way to this incident and power should be restored by 7 a.m.
In Spuzzum along Hwy. 1 in the Fraser Canyon, 76 customers there are without power; they’re expected to have the lights back on by 7 a.m. The cause is linked to a tree across hydro wires.
