CHILLIWACK — The Chilliwack Arts Council is announcing the opening of the artist submission process for the 2024 Chilliwack Mural Festival. Following a successful submission process in 2023, which attracted 750 applications from across the globe, organizers are excited about the opportunity 2024 brings.

From January 9 to February 5, artists worldwide are invited to apply, showcasing their extraordinary talents, ingenuity, and artistic prowess. Organizers says the flood of applications last year solidified Chilliwack’s position as an international hub for artistic expression.

Under the discerning eyes of Chilliwack curators Amber Price and Carrielynn Victor, the selection process is expected to be meticulous. The curation team, supported by the Arts Council, will sift through hundreds of submissions to handpick five muralists for the 2024 season, ensuring a diverse representation that contributes to the global narrative while embracing the richness of the local artistic landscape.

Selections will be based on an evaluation of applicants’ experience, artistic merit, and the existing artistic inventory, ensuring a blend of innovation and cohesion within the festival.

Festival organizers say the murals will enhance Chilliwack’s downtown core, transforming the cityscape into an artistic haven. Serving a dual purpose, the murals will beautify public spaces and provide an immersive experience for both locals and visitors.

The Chilliwack Mural Festival is scheduled to take place from Thursday, August 15 to Saturday, August 17.

Artist applications can be submitted online at the festival website beginning January 9.
