Helicopter missing in Kootenays – crash feared

REVELSTOKE — A search is underway for a helicopter that is missing in the Kootenays.

In a Saturday news release from Revelstoke RCMP, authorities say they were alerted to the missing chopper just before 7 p.m. Friday (Jan. 5). It was travelling Calgary and there was concern it had crashed.

A Search and Rescue team is assisting police in the search. Efforts are being focused in Glacier National Park on the eastern edge of British Columbia.

The owner of the helicopter or any information regarding the number of people onboard has not been released.
