MISSION — Mounties in Mission say they arrested a 45-year-old last week who appeared to be passed out inside a running vehicle that was later found to be stolen, and who had multiple sets of keys meant to steal other vehicles.

According to a social media post from the detachment, Mission RCMP received a report from a passerby on Friday, December 29 shortly after 11 a.m. that a male appeared to be passed out inside a running truck parked near 14th Avenue and Cedar Street. Police responded to the scene and located a grey GMC Sierra pickup truck with an enclosed trailer attached.

Police say a 45-year-old man was located in the driver’s seat with numerous drug baggies scattered around the cab of the vehicle. The truck was found to be stolen, and the VIN numbers had been scratched off the trailer. Once the man was taken into custody, police searched the truck and found two imitation firearms, including one in the center console, and multiple keys meant for stealing other vehicles.

The man was held in custody pending a bail hearing, and the truck and trailer were impounded.
