ABBOTSFORD — A young Abbotsford-area driver learned the hard way that it’s not smart to drive at ridiculous speeds in a school zone when children and students might be present.
According to a social media post from the Abbotsford Police Department, the agency’s Traffic Enforcement Unit was out patrolling Monday, Dec. 11 and observed a vehicle going 142 kilometres an hour in a school zone.
The N-driver, who was also impaired, was issued a 24-hour driving prohibition, a 7-day vehicle impound and fines totaling $701.
Police did not say if the driver was high or drunk.
