Chilliwack teen with ‘L’ license found to be impaired, took guardian’s car without their knowledge
MISSION – Police say a 16-year-old driver from Chilliwack learned some hard lessons in responsibility after she was found to be impaired while she drove away from Mission Memorial Hospital with a flat tire on an SUV she took without permission from her guardian.
According to a weekly recap provided by police, a witness reported suspicious circumstances to police on Monday morning, June 15, at approximately 8:30 a.m., involving three youth and a Dodge Durango parked outside the hospital in Mission.
Police say the vehicle had been parked there for several hours, and the youth had been asking people if they could use a spare tire. When a Mission RCMP officer pulled into the parking lot of Mission Memorial Hospital, the youth started trying to drive away with a completely flat front tire.
Mission RCMP say the driver, who was 16 and only had her learner’s license, had an apparent odour of liquor on her breath, and demonstrated signs of being impaired by alcohol.
