Still no cause identified in Abbotsford City Hall fire
ABBOTSFORD — The initial investigation into the fire at Abbotsford City Hall, Tuesday morning (Jul. 5) has been completed, according to Fire Chief Tom Dodd.
Chief Dodd said the investigation is currently ongoing and couldn’t comment on whether there was foul play involved. He did, however, mention that there was a shopping cart with belongings in it at the scene of the fire.
In the meantime, Abbotsford City Hall remains closed to the public. Dodd says air-quality testing would need to be completed before the building would reopen. “The City is currently working with a restoration company,” Dodd said. “There is no update or timeline for reopening.”
The cost of the fire is yet to be determined. There were no injuries reported.
