Chilliwack Chiefs open Island road trip with loss to Bulldogs

ALBERNI VALLEY — Hayden Stavroff had a goal and an assist while Callum Tung made 27 saves as the hometown Alberni Valley Bulldogs shutout the Chilliwack Chiefs 4 – 0 Friday in BCHL play.

The Bulldogs led 1 – 0 and 2 – 0 at the intermissions, improving their record to 9 wins in 13 games. The Chiefs record fell to 4 – 7 – 1 – 0 on the season.

Austin McNicholas faced 32 shots in the Chilliwack net as the Chiefs saw their two-game winning streak snapped.

Chilliwack will be in Nanaimo Saturday to face the Clippers in a 7 p.m. contest.
