Abbotsford Police arrest 38-year-old man, William Tickle, in Uber driver assault

ABBOTSFORD — Abbotsford Police have arrested a 38-year-old man after he was caught on video assaulting an Uber driver with several punches to his face earlier this month.

On Tuesday, April 18, at 6:47 a.m., Abbotsford Police patrol officers responded to the 2300 block of McCallum Road for an assault on an Uber driver, according to Sgt. Walker, media relations spokesperson for the Abbotsford Police Department. Prior to police arrival, the suspect fled the scene on foot. Patrol officers conducted extensive patrols in the area, but the suspect was not located. The victim in this incident was injured and extremely shaken due to the suspect’s violent actions.

Over the past week, AbbyPD officers have been advancing the investigation by working with Uber and its law enforcement partners to identify and arrest the suspect. On Thursday, April 27 at 7 p.m., AbbyPD officers located and arrested 38-year-old William Tickle of Abbotsford without incident.

The B.C. Prosecution Service has approved charges of assault causing bodily harm & uttering threats. Tickle remains in police custody, awaiting a court appearance later today (Friday).
