Overtime winner lifts Nanaimo past Chilliwack to push the series to five games
CHILLIWACK — Jeremie Payant scored at 14:55 of overtime to give the Nanaimo Clippers a 5 – 4 victory over the Chiefs in Chilliwack Wednesday (Apr. 20) night.
The win keeps the Clippers alive in the best-of-seven BCHL quarterfinal series. Nanaimo trails the series three games to one.
The Clippers looked to be on the verge of winning the game in the third period. However AJ Lacroix scored with 50 seconds remaining in regulation time to tie the game for the Chiefs.
Dylan Kinch, Michael La Starza and Nico Grabas also scored goals for Chilliwack. Nanaimo had two goals from Jake Hewitt and singles from Kai Daniells, Brody Waters before Payant scored the game winner.
