VANCOUVER — Wet and wild weather this holiday weekend has left thousands of people without power and ferry travelers with long waits as wind blew trees across power lines and forced B-C Ferries to cancel several sailings.

B-C Hydro says it dispatched crews to numerous outages on Sunday, and the Thompson Shuswap region was hit particularly hard with thousands of customers without power.

B-C Ferries says it had to cancel several sailings on Sunday between Vancouver and Victoria due to adverse weather.

The power outages and ferry cancellations came after Environment Canada issued several weather warnings of heavy rains and high winds hitting the Coast over the Easter long weekend.
