Police investigate disturbance at Chilliwack park involving youths, booze and bear spray
CHILLIWACK – Police in Chilliwack were called to a downtown Chilliwack park sometime last week after getting reports of a large group of youths who were allegedly disturbing the peace and consuming alcohol.
According to her weekly summary for Sept. 28-Oct. 4, Chilliwack RCMP spokesperson Corporal Carmen Kiener says Mounties responded to Central Park on Victoria Avenue after security personnel reported a large group of youths causing disturbances and consuming alcohol.
When police arrived, one youth was located suffering from the effects of bear spray. The youth was alleged to have pointed bear spray at security staff and members of the public, Cpl. Kiener said. The intoxicated youth then became involved in an altercation with an unknown adult male and was subsequently sprayed with his own bear spray.
Police say the youth was arrested and held for investigation after he was treated for the effects of bear spray.
