Development envisioned for long-vacant property in Chilliwack

CHILLIWACK – A public hearing will be held next week about a proposed residential and commercial development on a long-vacant parcel of land at the intersection of Yale Road and Airport Road in Chilliwack.

Gatehouse Developments Inc. has submitted an application to rezone 45645 Yale Road from a C2 (local commercial) zone to a C9 (mid-rise apartment commercial) zone to facilitate building a new mixed-use commercial and residential development, and amend the text of the C9 (mid-rise apartment commercial) zone to require a minimum gross floor area.

A public notice on the City of Chilliwack website does not reveal how many residential units are proposed.

The 1.66-acre (0.67-hectare) property in question is valued at $5,224,000, according to public records on the BC Assessment website. It has not been sold in the past three years.
