Truck driver ticketed for spilling lumber load in Maple Ridge, truck gets road ban pending further inspection

MAPLE RIDGE – Police in Maple Ridge say the the driver of a flat-bed truck and trailer has been ticketed and had their vehicle temporarily prohibited from operating pending an inspection after a lumber spill Monday morning.

In a statement, Maple Ridge RCMP say its officers were dispatched at approximately 11:30 a.m. Monday (Sept. 21) for a report of a possible two-vehicle collision near Dewdney Trunk Road and 201B Street in Maple Ridge.

Responding RCMP members officers learned at the accident scene that a flat-bed truck and trailer was attempting an eastbound turn onto Lougheed Highway when the back of the trailer flipped over, resulting in lumber debris falling onto Dewdney Trunk Road.

The subsequent spill led to a passenger vehicle being struck by debris in the area. No injuries were reported.
