Chilliwack brewery set to welcome back guests to its freshly-redesigned space

“This project has truly been a labour of love and, at times, a real test of patience,” said Zach Van Leeuwen, Managing Partner of Old Yale Brewing. “Like many construction projects, we faced our share of unexpected delays, but we never lost sight of why we started. Chilliwack has been our home since we first opened our doors in 1999 as the city’s first craft brewery. It’s been incredible to watch the local craft beer community grow over the years alongside so many great friends in the industry. We first moved into this space almost exactly 10 years ago, and a lot has changed since then. After spending the last few years expanding into Abbotsford and Beaumont, it felt incredibly important to invest back into the community that believed in us first. We wanted to create a space that reflects who we are today while honoring where we came from – a space Chilliwack can truly be proud of. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back through our doors.”

One of the most notable improvements is the installation of a full-service kitchen located entirely indoors. Guests can enjoy the same menu offered in Abbotsford and Beaumont (Alberta), including hand-crafted pizzas, signature smash burgers, fresh salads and bowls, shareables, sandwiches and more, all complemented by Old Yale’s award-winning craft beer. The brewery is home to 16 taps, showcasing Old Yale favourites alongside seasonal releases, all brewed on-site in the 11,000 square foot state-of-the-art brewery and production facility. The bar serves cocktails, wine and more, with beer available to enjoy in-house or take home.

“Our goal was to create a space that feels instantly familiar while offering an entirely new experience” said Heather Perdue, Brand & Marketing Strategist for Old Yale Brewing, “Every design decision – from the layout and seating to the finishes, lighting and local artwork – was made with comfort, flow and hospitality in mind. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick beer, gathering with friends over dinner or spending the afternoon watching the game, we wanted every part of the space to feel warm, welcoming and easy to enjoy.”

Another new feature of the renovation is a mural by renowned Chilliwack artist Davis Graham, aka Pencil Fingerz, Old Yale’s fourth collaboration with the artist. Invigorated by Mount Cheam and the majestic Chilliwack landscape, the mural magnifies the region that has shaped Old Yale Brewing since its inception over a quarter-century ago.

While the interior reopens this September, work will continue outside. Old Yale’s beloved seasonal patio will return in spring 2027 with a refreshed layout following the removal of the former food truck. Guests can still expect the expansive turf, tents, string lights and welcoming atmosphere that have made it one of Chilliwack’s favourite gathering places – just with a few exciting improvements and more room to grow.

Old Yale Brewing’s hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday.
