Abbotsford Police received suspicious call about potential threat of violence, leading to lockdowns

ABBOTSFORD – Police in Abbotsford say they received a suspicious call indicating a potential threat of violence in Abbotsford just before 11 a.m. Monday morning.

According to a social media post from the Abbotsford Police Department, the potential threat of violence prompted an immediate and significant police response to ensure the safety of students, staff, and users of the Abbotsford Recreation Centre and nearby schools.

As a precaution, Yale Secondary School was placed under lockdown. McMillan Elementary School and William A. Fraser Middle School were directed to shelter in place while officers assessed the situation.

Safety precautions were also brought in at the Abbotsford Recreation Centre.
