CHILLIWACK – In a rematch of last season’s memorable first-round playoff series, the Chilliwack Chiefs will defend home ice against an opponent they know all too well during their season-opener this weekend.

The Chiefs are set to take on the Coquitlam Express this Saturday, Sept. 19 in their BCHL regular-season opener. Puck drop is 6 p.m.

The Chiefs defeated the Express in five games during their playoff battle, featuring a historic Game 2 that went four overtimes before the Chiefs secured the victory, creating one of the most distinct moments of last year’s playoffs.

The Chiefs will welcome back several familiar faces this season, including David Di Girolamo, Brandon Osborne, Luke Pilkington, Markuss Sieradzkis, and Milan Mrsic. The team will also introduce new additions to the lineup, including local product Koltin Herfst, giving Chilliwack fans a chance to watch a hometown player take the ice in a Chiefs jersey.

The home opener is being presented by CUPE Local 458 in recognition of its 75th anniversary. Saturday’s contest will feature entertainment and activities throughout the evening. The first 1,000 fans will receive a Chiefs schedule fridge magnet, courtesy of Kelly ‘N’ Carlos O’Bryan’s, while Chilliwack’s very own Desiree Walde will perform during both intermissions. Local dancers from Creative Outlet studio will be attending, adding to the energy and excitement of the night.

Fans can also watch the return of the Hofstede’s Country Barn Shoot for Cash and enjoy face painting from Face Painting by Kat.

Tickets are available at the box office in person or online at www.chilliwackchiefs.net/tickets.
