Abbotsford council approves plans for new rec park on Lefeuvre Road after last ALC rejection

ABBOTSFORD — Officials in Abbotsford are moving ahead with new plans for the future of sports and recreation in the city following the Agricultural Land Commission’s (ALC) rejection of their bid to use the King Road site in August.

Staff have been instructed to proceed with site and design works at a City-owned, 39-acre parcel of land at 1010 Lefeuvre Road.

“Council’s priority is clear, we need more recreation and sports amenities and park space to serve a growing community,” said Mayor Ross Siemens. “Moving forward with the Lefeuvre Road property allows us to continue building momentum and take meaningful steps toward delivering those services for residents.”

The City first submitted an application to use the land at King and McKenzie Roads in April 2025, but the Commission denied the bid on August 20 this year.
