Chilliwack firefighters called to suspicious fire at vacant motel Wednesday night

CHILLIWACK – Approximately 40 firefighters from four halls responded to a suspicious fire at a vacant motel on Yale Road Wednesday night.

In a statement, Chilliwack Assistant Fire Chief Wade Meeres says fire crews responded to reports of a structure fire at the vacant motel at about 7 p.m. Wednesday night (Sept. 9). When firefighters arrived, they located light smoke coming from multiple units of the vacant motel.

Assistant Fire Chief Meeres says firefighters quickly established a water supply and initiated an offensive interior fire attack. They worked to locate and contain the fire while conducting searches of the affected areas.
