Chilliwack fire crews tackle burning kitchen in empty home
CHILLIWACK — Firefighters in Chilliwack have worked to put out a fire inside a house while no one was home Friday afternoon (Sep. 4).
Firefighters from Halls 1 and 4 of the Chilliwack Fire Department responded to reports of smoke coming from a residence in the 46000 block of Yale Road at around 1:45 p.m., where they found smoke venting from the roof’s underside and chimney of the wood-frame home.
“Firefighters forced entry into the residence and initiated an offensive interior attack,” said Chilliwack Fire. “Crews quickly contained and extinguished a fire in the kitchen, preventing further damage to the home.”
No one was home at the time of the incident.
