Business owner, homeowner announces run for Harrison Hot Springs council

HARRISON HOT SPRINGS – A local homeowner and business owner plans to run for a seat on the Harrison Hot Springs council in the municipal election this October.

According to a social media announcement made on Wednesday (Aug. 19), Stewart Prichard says he is a proud Harrison Hot Springs resident, homeowner, family man, and local business owner who will bring a fresh set of eyes to local issues.

“I bring a fresh, independent perspective and a willingness to listen, ask difficult questions, and consider every issue on its merits,” Prichard said. “As Harrison continues to grow, we need new voices at the Council table to help ensure that growth is thoughtful, responsible, and right for our community. I want to help protect the shared vision we have for our beautiful village while supporting responsible investment in its future.”

If elected, he pledges to carefully consider all constituent feedback while communicating candidly with residents and stakeholders.

“I will not make promises about outcomes that any one person cannot guarantee. What I can promise is that I will listen, communicate honestly, and do the work,” Prichard said. “Effective leadership means understanding the systems available to us, working collaboratively with Council, staff, residents, businesses, and other levels of government, and finding practical ways to make those systems work for our community.”

Living and working in Harrison Hot Springs has given him a deeper understanding what locals need and want from their government.

“Harrison is more than where I live—it is where my family and I have built our home, where we own and operate a business, and where a senior member of our family also lives. These connections give me a personal understanding of the needs of families, homeowners, local businesses, and seniors in our community,” Prichard said. “In the weeks ahead, I look forward to hearing your ideas and concerns and sharing more about my priorities. It would be an honour to earn your trust and your vote.”

Prichard is one of several candidates who plan to run in this fall’s election in Harrison Hot Springs, including incumbent councillors Leo Facio and Michie Vidal, and Mayor Fred Talen.

Newcomer Greg Veltman announced last month that he would run for council.

The municipal election will be held on Saturday, October 17.
