CHILLIWACK – A Yarrow resident who works in the energy sector and brings 16 years of project management, tech and sales leadership experience across North America will run for Chilliwack City Council in this fall’s election.

Brent Bowker, who ran for council in 2022 and garnered a respectable 3,161 votes as a first-time candidate, says he will endeavour to bring steady fiscal oversight and a collaborative approach to local government if elected.

“Chilliwack is a vibrant, fast-growing community, and we face critical choices about how we manage our future,” said Bowker, whose extensive private sector experience helps electric utilities and real estate firms operate efficiently. “I am running to ensure our city remains safe, accessible, and full of opportunity for families and young people growing up here. I look forward to listening to residents across every neighbourhood and working together on Chilliwack’s next chapter.”

Bowker currently serves as a member of the Transportation Advisory Committee, volunteers as Vice President of the Chilliwack Tennis Society, and gives back to a number of community organizations. He’s a married father of two young boys who was born and raised on a farm.

Throughout his career, he says he’s project managed and helped sell multi-million dollar IT deployments for leading electric utility and real estate companies across Canada, the United States, and Australia.

“Born and raised on a farm, I bring a grounded, practical perspective to civic life — one that bridges rural values and modern business acumen,” Bowker said.

Bowker’s platform consists of the following key objectives:

  • Fiscal Responsibility: Maintain Chilliwack’s disciplined pay-as-you-go approach to capital projects to live within municipal means while keeping property taxes competitive.
  • Safe & Connected Transportation: Continue planned investments in intersection upgrades, road safety designs, and active transportation infrastructure to protect all road users.
  • Empowering Community Recreation: Partner directly with non-profit sports and recreation groups to expand active living opportunities and maximize outcomes for residents.
