Multiple road projects underway in Chilliwack River Valley

CHILLIWACK — Drivers travelling through the Chilliwack River Valley may experience some traffic delays as work gets underway in the area.

Starting today, August 16, single-lane traffic is set to be in effect on a section of Edwards Road as part of ongoing flood repair work.

Single-lane traffic remains in effect at the Tamihi Bridge due to that work as of last week.

Work on the Wilson Road Dike, which was damaged during atmospheric river events, is set to begin this week.

Community officials have also checked in with a project manager and confirmed that paving along Slesse Creek Forest Service Road is expected to start in mid-September.

“Please be careful around flaggers and road crews. Slow down, follow posted signs and directions, and give workers plenty of room to work,” wrote Patti MacAhonic, Chilliwack River Valley electoral area director. “And as always, watch out for wildlife. Please stay alert for animals near and crossing the roadway, particularly in the valley.”

At the other end of Chilliwack, paving is scheduled to continue on Wolfe Road from Dyke Road to Sunset Drive on August 17 and 18, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
