Overnight traffic-pattern changes coming for Highway 1 in Abbotsford

ABBOTSFORD — Drivers can expect more traffic changes heading eastbound on Highway 1 at Mount Lehman Road as work to expand the Fraser Valley corridor continues.

Starting Monday, August 17, crews will be installing girders for the expanded Mount Lehman structure.

As a result, eastbound traffic will cross over to flow in both directions, one lane each, in the westbound lanes.

The southbound off-ramp at Mount Lehman will stay open. Northbound Mount Lehman Road and eastbound Fraser Highway traffic will have detours. On-ramp access is unaffected.

The detour will take place over multiple nights from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.

It is set to remain in effect until August 29.

The Ministry of Transportation and Transit is urging motorists to obey signs, watch for roadside workers, and allow additional travel time through the area.
