LANGLEY – Police in Langley have confirmed the deaths of two people after a serious crash involving an SUV and a commercial truck Tuesday night in Langley.

RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Zynal Sharoom says police responded to a motor vehicle incident at 256 Street and 16 Avenue Tuesday night (Aug. 4) at about 10:49 p.m.

First responders comprised of Langley firefighters, BC Ambulance Service paramedics and police attended to provide assistance.

“This was a tragic collision that resulted in the loss of two lives,” said Sergeant Zynal Sharoom of the Langley RCMP. “One person was declared deceased at the scene, and a second person later died in hospital. Investigators continue to examine the factors that contributed to this collision, we are asking any witnesses or anyone with dash camera footage to come forward.”

Personnel from the Lower Mainland Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) were dispatched to assist with the investigation.

The collision resulted in overnight road closures and significant traffic disruptions in the area while investigators examined the scene. Those closures have since been lifted, and all affected roadways have reopened to traffic, Sgt. Sharoom said.
