Pickup truck driver hospitalized after crash in Abbotsford Wednesday morning

ABBOTSFORD – Police in Abbotsford are investigating a single-vehicle crash on Sumas Way Wednesday morning that sent the driver to hospital.

The accident occurred on Sumas Way between Marshall Road and South Fraser Way. Based on preliminary information, police say the truck left the roadway, struck a light standard and came to rest on a retaining wall.

The truck sustained significant damage, while the driver was transported to hospital.

Northbound Sumas Way was reduced to a single lane between Marshall Road and South Fraser Way.

Police advised motorists to expect significant delays and heavy congestion through the area while the police investigation continued.

There was only one occupant in the truck.
