Cultus Lake Waterpark reopens

CULTUS LAKE — Cultus Lake Waterpark opened today (July 29) for the first time since an electrical incident closed the park on June 15. The reopening of the popular summer-time park is being phased in as the park continues to work with regulators to meet all safety standards.

In a statement on the park’s website, the waterslide attractions that will be reopened to the public first include Tubular Terror. An image map on the website shows Radical Rapids, Zero to 60 Raceway, Boomerang, Bazooka Bowls and Pirates Cove rides are also closed to the public. Hot tubs are not available for public use at this point.

Reduced pricing is also in effect through Friday.

The park was closed in June after a group of school children suffered burns. A safety regulator found the park had “electrical non-compliances” and the park was closed until repairs were completed.

In a statement released on July 23, the park says assessments of the facility are being completed in coordination with Technical Safety BC, WorkSafeBC, Fraser Health and licensed contractors. It goes on to say, “Any areas that reopen will do so only after receiving the necessary approvals from the applicable authorities, Technical Safety BC, WorkSafeBC, and Fraser Health.”
