Abbotsford Police issue huge fines, impound van after man drives 95 kms over the speed limit
ABBOTSFORD — A Fraser Valley motorist with a lead foot and an impatient disposition is significantly lighter in the wallet after an incredibly reckless display of speeding earlier this week.
The Abbotsford Police Department tweeted Tuesday afternoon (Jan. 24) that plainclothes officers with the department observed a driver operating his vehicle at speeds almost matching the Autobahn in Germany, but in a municipal setting.
“Yesterday afternoon our AbbyPD plainclothes officers observed a driver operating his vehicle dangerously along Clearbrook and Huntingdon Roads, putting others at risk,” Abby PD tweeted.
The driver reached speeds of 145 kilometres in a 50-km zone. The driver’s van was impounded and the motorist was issued $701 in fines, Abby PD said.
