Maple Ridge school placed in hold and secure during weapon-related incident Thursday: RCMP
MAPLE RIDGE – Police in Maple Ridge say a local high school was placed in a hold and secure Thursday morning while RCMP members responded to a call involving a weapon, resulting in police taking a 16-year-old youth suspect into custody.
Police were called to the 23000 block of 116 Avenue in Maple Ridge for the report of a person with a weapon Thursday morning, July 9, at about 11:15 a.m. Police say RCMP members immediately attended the area and located an individual on scene who was in possession of an imitation firearm.
The 16-year-old youth suspect was subsequently apprehended and taken into custody by police. No injuries were reported.
Police say there is no ongoing risk to the public at this time.
