Construction activities are currently underway in a vacant commercial unit near Chipotle and Shell inside the future home of Jersey Mike’s Subs, a franchise that first opened in New Jersey in 1956. A building permit from the City of Chilliwack currently appears on the front entrance door.

Similar Jersey Mike’s Subs openings are planned for Kelowna (102-1575 Banks Road) and Vancouver (1864 West 4th Avenue).

The company touts itself for its sandwiches featuring lettuce, onions, tomatoes, oil, vinegar and spices.

“Everything about Jersey Mike’s is high quality. Our meats and cheeses are all top-quality, premium brands,” the company said. “Our bread is fresh-baked each day on the premises. And of course, everything’s prepared right in front of you. It’s what makes Jersey Mike’s the most authentic tasting submarine sandwich available, and it’s a tradition of quality we’ll never outgrow.”

The quick serve sandwich market in Chilliwack is currently dominated by Subway. There are seven Subway locations in Chilliwack itself and another in Popkum, a Quiznos Subs in Sardis, and a Firehouse Subs location near Lickman Road and Highway 1.

The Chilliwack location will be affiliated with Redberry Restaurants, a multi-brand quick-service restaurant franchisee that was founded in 2005 and currently owns and operates over 220 restaurants.
